Converting denier, tex and Ne
Denier and tex are weights of a fixed length, so bigger means thicker: tex is denier divided by 9. English count (Ne) is a length per weight, so bigger means finer: Ne is about 5,315 divided by denier. So 75 denier is about 8.3 tex and about 71s Ne, and a 30s yarn is about 177 denier.

The three systems
Denier: grams per 9,000 metres. Tex: grams per 1,000 metres. Both are used for filament yarn, denier far more often in Surat.
English count (Ne): the number of 840-yard hanks in one pound. It is used for spun yarn such as cotton, viscose and polyester spun.
The formulas
Tex = denier ÷ 9. Denier = tex × 9.
Ne = 5,315 ÷ denier. Denier = 5,315 ÷ Ne.
Ne = 590.5 ÷ tex. Tex = 590.5 ÷ Ne.
Worked examples
110 denier ATY is about 12.2 tex and about 48s Ne.
2/24 viscose is two plies of 24s, so the resultant is about 12s: roughly 443 denier.
30/1 polyester spun is about 177 denier, the same thickness as a 2/60.
