Air-textured yarn (ATY)
Air-textured yarn, or ATY (often called Airtex in Surat), is filament yarn blown through a jet of compressed air so that its filaments form tiny loops and tangles. The result looks and feels more like spun yarn, with more bulk and cover, but keeps the strength of filament. We make it at our factory in Kim.
Made at our factory in Kim, Surat district.

How we make it
At Kim, polyester filament yarn is overfed into an air-texturising jet. The air blast pushes loops into the filaments and locks them in place, so the yarn gains bulk, a soft hand and a dry, cotton-like look. Core-and-effect combinations give different looks from the same machine.
Making ATY ourselves means we decide the denier, the loop size and the stability, and we can repeat a quality exactly for customers who weave the same fabric month after month.
Which counts
Our ATY qualities run from about 60 to 110 denier; 110 denier ATY is a regular. Bright and semi-dull versions are available, and specific deniers and lustres can be made to order.
Where ATY is used
ATY is used where a fabric should look spun but perform like filament: shirting and suiting, dress material, upholstery and home textiles, curtains, bags and workwear. It does not pill or shed like spun yarn, and it holds colour well.
